Sometimes it can be hard to see past the problems. We all do it. That renovation job is monstrous. The paint doesn't look right. Trying to get to Six Flags will be a nightmare. Let's not do those things. I don't like my hair in that picture.
We are focused on the problems and not the positive on the other side. Sometimes we need someone else to remind us of that critical eye and help us understand the beautify in whatever, or whomever, we are looking at.

I have bilateral optic nerve hypoplasia. That is fancy talk for an underdeveloped optic nerve. Mine isn't equal, thankfully. I have no sight in my right eye, and I have never had sight in that eye. Recently I started to notice my eye turning in from center, meaning it is now closer to my nose. I last had surgery to correct it almost 20 years ago when the pupil was about to disappear at the outer edge. Since I became more aware of it not being right in the pictures I am taking of my journey, I asked the doc about it, and we discussed it.

The more important part, and what lead to this post, is what happened after he walked out of the room. His assistant says, 'You know Eden, when we look at pictures of ourselves, we see what isn’t right. Our hair is out of place, maybe something didn’t match in our outfit, or whatever. The point is, we see what could be better. What we should be looking at is the beauty. Don’t worry about your eye. Go be beautiful.'

How many times have you made a similar comment about yourself or someone else? 'That’s a nice picture, but my hair is a mess.' We take pictures to celebrate or capture a moment in time when something memorable or beautiful was happening.

Other it is ourselves, someone else, or the world around us, focus on the positive side. Focus on the good.
